Hayley and Christian initially met sometime in 2014 through their mutual college friend, Nadia. They saw each other occasionally at friend gatherings and enjoyed each other's company.

On a beautiful day in September, Nadia organized a smaller group of friends to go sailing. It was here where Christian and Hayley were able to connect in a more intimate setting.

Christian reached out to Hayley to suggest meeting for dinner at a pupuseria as a means to reconnect and see her again. Hayley gladly accepted the invitation, and they chatted endlessly until the restaurant closed.

One date turned into several dates, and another sailing outing...

Their shared love of the outdoors took them on many hikes and fun travels across the US and abroad.

Then in a spontaneous moment atop the Del Mar bluffs, Christian swept Hayley off her feet with a surprise proposal that left her elated (and very teary).
